Objetivo. Comparar dos protocolos de inseminación artificial a tiempo fijo (IATF) sobre el porcentaje de preñez en vacas Brahman. Materiales y métodos. Se seleccionaron 60 vacas entre 90 y 360 días posparto y asignadas aleatoriamente en dos grupos. El tratamiento 1 (T1; n=30) consistió en la aplicación el día 0 de un dispositivo intravaginal (DIV) que contenía 0.5 g de progesterona y 2.0 mg de benzoato de estradiol im. El día 8 se retiró el DIV y se aplicaron 0.150 mg de PgF2α, im y 300 UI de eCG, im y 0.5 mg de cipionato de estradiol, im. El día 10 se realizó la IATF a las 48 – 50 h posterior al retiro del DIV. El tratamiento 2 (T2; n= 30) consistió en la inserción del DIV el día 0 y 0.01 mg GnRH, im. El día 5 se retiró el DIV y se aplicaron dos dosis de 0.150 mg de PgF2α, a las 0 y 12 horas. El día 8 se realizó la IATF a las 72 h posterior al retiro del DIV y 0.01 mg de GnRH, im. La IATF se realizó con un semen de fertilidad comprobada. Resultados. El diagnóstico de preñez se realizó a los 45 días luego de la IATF por palpación rectal. El T2 y T1 presentaron porcentajes de preñez de (46.7%; 14/30) y (33.3%; 10%30), respectivamente. Conclusiones. Se justifica la aplicación del tratamiento 2 en función de los resultados y la salud pública.
