Hay muchos virus que pueden ser transmitidos de los animales al hombre por vectores artrópodos. De estos 400 o más virus, apenas 100 se sabe que causan enfermedad en el hombre y de ellos unos 40 causan sindromes clínicos graves, como Fiebre Amarilla, Dengue y Encefalitis Equinas.
