The nanoparticles are materials that are found on a nanometric scale less than 100 nm, originate naturally or by human intervention and, according to the elements that make them up, acquire unique and specific functions. In veterinary science, metallic nanoparticles are considered a revolutionary and innovative tool, allowing us to enter a new era in the transformation of drug and vaccine vehicles, in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious and degenerative diseases, also the nanoparticles to improving the zootechnical aspects of raising and reproducing animals and innovating tools for the safety monitoring of food of animal origin. This review analyzed studies focused on the applications of metallic nanoparticles in veterinary science, which provides a current overview of the scope and limitations in the use of these nanotechnological tools in the different areas of veterinary knowledge.
